Stony Stratford Bowling Club - History

Having achieved our aim, and without having to borrow any funds!

We have since been able to rebuild our changing rooms, re edge the green, and provide a level tarmaced path throughout the whole area. 

 

Some 15 years went by and with the need for improved facilities it was decided we needed a new Clubhouse.

 

Despite many years of hard fundraising, including the now famous calendar, and a mountain of paperwork our application for a Lottery Grant was turned down.

 

Nothing daunted, a hardcore of members decided the only way forward was an extension and revamp of the existing building .

 

With a considerable amount of labour and materials being supplied by the members, the "New" Clubhouse was open in time for the 2003 season.

The final result retained the lines of the 80 year old design, but gave us a much bigger lounge area, larger bar working area, new central heating and a ramp access for the disabled.
