Stony Stratford Bowling Club
There was another 3 Rink Bowls Green in the Town for many years. This was behind The Conservative Club. Unfortunately this became a victim of the motor car and was made into a Car Park in the 1960s.
In 2002 the Ladies section joined with the men to form a mixed club with over 100 members. In 2006 Pat Pye became the first lady to hold the office of Club President.
In 1986 our winning men’s rink became the English Champions.
One of our members Alan Dimmock served as Men's County President in 1997, and his wife Georgina was the Ladies County President in 2000.

Shortly after World War 1, Mr Ancell a local benefactor purchased and placed in trust an area of land for the provision of sports facilities for Stony Stratford and the surrounding area.
In 1923 Stony Stratford Bowling Club was established, and the Men's Club started playing in 1924 on the present site in the Ancell Trust Sports Ground.
A Ladies Section was formed some years later, and played on a green, which is now now part of the tennis courts. It was reformed in 1978, sharing the Men’s facilities.
CLUB HISTORY

THE CLUB BADGE is somewhat original.
It’s three parts depicting some of the fascinating history of the Club's location:
First there is the Tower of St Mary Magdalene’s Church, which still stands adjacent to the sports ground, although the rest of the Church was destroyed in Stony’s Great Fire of 1742.
The Rose depicts the Princes of The Tower, held in Stony Stratford on their way to London in 1483.
The third part portrays the arms of the Pigot family who held title to the land on which the Ancel Trust Sports Ground is situated
